Nanlite PavoTube II 30C Test Shoot

The Nanlite PavoTube II 30C lights were a much needed step up in my lighting kit. Going from simple bicolor led panels to an RGB system allows for more creative variety with lighting setups that I am already using in planned productions for the year.

To test these lights, I created a simple product video around Christmas with my wife's Ember Mug. I wanted to capture a warm, fireplace like tone for this spec ad. For this lighting setup I used two Nanlite PavoTubes as a key and fill light 45 degrees behind the mug to rim the product with warm light.

I discovered that the product needed an extra lift since the tubes were behind the product. So I added a top light with an Amaran Ace 25C. I set the tone to a neutral white color to brighten the blanket I used to represent snow, and to brighten the label on the cup so you could see that it was an Ember Mug. It is a product video, after all.

Lastly, I of course used my Christmas tree as a backlight to complete the holiday feel of this product video.

Overall, I am happy with my Nanlite PavoTube lights. They allow me to diversify my lighting setups with different colors and effects.
